myhome story
Today Myhome International plc has over 400 franchisees, and has established their position in the home services market in the United Kingdom. The group has plans to expand internationally, as well as within the UK. See Looking Forward for Myhome International plc’s plans for the future.
Executive Chairman and Founder of Myhome International plc, Russell O’Connell, acquired the early stage Myhome development from Unilever in 2001. Unilever had already conducted extensive research into the cleaning process and practice, and had created cleaning and customer service systems from that research, which formed the foundations of what makes the Myhome Clean proposition so strong today.
The Myhome Group furthered this research, and instituted more comprehensive systems to guarantee a consistent high level of service. Russell O’Connell saw the potential of premium residential services in the UK, and since acquiring Myhome Clean has acquired other franchises that compliment Myhome Clean and the Group’s strategy.
Following Myhome Group’s acquisition of Unilever’s residential cleaning business in late 2001, the Company’s shares were admitted to trading on the OFEX trading platform (now called PLUS) in 2002, with Unilever holding a 10% stake at the time.
A comprehensive franchise programme was launched in 2003, and since then the network turnover for Myhome Clean has shown significant growth. In 2004 the Myhome Group was awarded an accreditation as an Associate Member of the British Franchise Association.
Myhome Clean’s success has built a steady base for growth and acquiring new franchises in the residential and car services industry. The Myhome systems that have been so successful have been transported from one franchise to the next, as Myhome International plc continues its acquisition strategy.
Typically Myhome Group chooses entrepreneurial business-minded people as franchisees, and comprehensively trains them in the brand, the systems and the service.
The franchisees then target “cash rich, time poor” professional and managerial households, who are more likely to need the service on a regular basis and pay for a high quality service provided by efficient and trustworthy providers.
The Group’s aim is to create a franchise network with high average customer spend and to maintain long-term customer relationships. For more information on the operation and systems of the Myhome Group franchises go to Franchise Model page.
In 2005 Myhome International plc began its acquisition programme to expand its product offering, leveraging off its core franchise infrastructure of IT. accounts & marketing.
